Empowerment. Advocacy. Voice.
Imagine a group of leaders with a voice. Now imagine a group of youth leaders with a voice.
That is, and will be, the AYCS Youth Leadership Circle: a Congress of Red Deer youth with a voice at the table of community leaders. Culturally we understand the idea of participatory democracy and we come together with a common purpose: friendship and empowered fellowship.
The AYCS Youth Leadership Circle is built on a foundation of:
- Empowerment
- Culture
- Seven Sacred Teachings
- Leadership
- Vision
- Youth!
.. in turn we build on the strength of our community
As we join our friends at the Alberta Aboriginal Youth Council (AAYC), we will help to lend a voice and advice to the Alberta Native Friendship Centres Association. AYCS Leadership Circle is grass roots based, coming out of our weekly youth nights.
As we work together with the Red Deer Friendship Society and Urban Aboriginal Voices, where we share their vision of “democratic governance, environmental stewardship, cultural vibrancy, economic and financial security and social inclusiveness.”
We will be meeting every First and Fourth Monday of the month. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming appart of the Aboriginal Youth Council please contact Danielle at spiritseekers@rdnfs.com for more information.
